Care instructions

Take care of your trough and your heat pump and the house will be fine.

Control for the cold season

Dirt, leaves or anything else that stops or obstructs the flow of water?

Turn off the heat pump on the remote control inside and wait 5min. Start by removing leaves and other things that obstruct the airflow from the heat exchanger and then from the tray. Pour a large (10L) watering can with 40-50°C hot water, slowly pour the silver-colored heat exchanger on your outdoor unit, it is always on the back, usually also on the left side. Clean away anything loose in the tray that can prevent the water from getting through.

Place the tray, so all water is collected

If you have rinsed off the tray, make sure it is in the right place, i.e. collect all the water. Start by laying the tray edge-to-edge with the rear left corner of the outdoor unit. Fill your watering can again and pour a few liters onto the silver-colored heat exchanger along the back and the left side. Did all the water go into the tray? – Yep! (Good job!) – Almost everything, move the tray so that it also covers the hole, where it flowed outside – then you pour a few liters in the same way again. Continue until all the water is collected.

Don't forget to plug the plugs into the wall socket.

It’s easy to forget, but it’s important that both the tray and the heating cable get power, as water that freezes can damage both.

Is the tray connected using a cord reel and/or extension cable?

A cord reel is always a temporary solution, it is common for there to be flashover due to moisture in both cord reels and power strips/extension cables. Use as little time as possible and ensure that moisture/water never gets into joints/cord reels.

Heat pumps, heating trays and heating cables must have a direct connection to the electrical distribution board and their own fuse/earth fault circuit breaker. Heat pumps must have a work switch and heating trays/heating cables are connected via an earthed wall socket or safety switch.

Is there damage to the trough cable, drainage hose or perhaps the heating cable?

Have you run over the hose with the lawn mower? Or has the grass trimmer been too close? – It is important that all electrical cables are intact, if it is the tray, then there are spare parts. If the drainage hose has been cut off, there is a joint as an accessory. If the heating cable has been cut off, it must be replaced.

The easiest way is to contact your place of purchase for the tray.

Are there bends on the drain hose that create a water trap?

Air source heat pump, every year before the first frosty night. Air-water heat pump, twice a year before the first frost night and at Easter.

Straighten the hose, flush through 10L of hot water, so that dirt stuck in the water trap is flushed out. It is important so that the dirt does not obstruct the flow of water after a few years.

Check the day after the first frosty night in the autumn

Dirt, leaves or other things that stop.

Clean away anything in the trough and hose that can prevent the water from getting through.

Are the tray and heating cable connected to a power source?

Make sure that the connectors and cables are connected.

Make sure the safety switch is in the On position.

The tray is connected but receives no power.

If the tray/heating cable is connected to a power outlet, you can check if there is power in the outlet. Take for example a small table lamp and test. If there is no power, you can check that the fuse is intact and that the RCD has not tripped.

Check-up a few times during the cold season

Check that the tray is working by making sure that no ice forms in the tray or hose.
